Lastovka Named MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Youngstown State placekicker Andrew Lastovka was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Special Teams Player of the Week following the Penguins' 41-38 win over Illinois State this past Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium.
In his seventh game as a Penguin, Lastovka looked like a veteran when he came on to kick a 37-yard field goal as time expired in the back-and-forth victory over the Redbirds.
Also in the game he added a 22-yard field goal in the third quarter and five extra points. The two field goals were a career high for the redshirt freshman. In 2023, he is 6-of-6 on field goals and 29-of-30 on extra-point tries.
Others earning MVFC honors were RB Amauri Pesek-Hickson, UNI (Offense), DL Devin Goree, Missouri State (Defense) and RB Charles Pierre Jr., South Dakota (Newcomer).
The Penguins play host to Missouri State on Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
