Fishers, Ind. - Highlighted by Chiara Vetter's 100 breaststroke victory, the Youngstown State men's and women's swimming and diving programs performed well at the Butler Invitational on Sunday at the Fishers High School Natatorium.
Vetter, competing in just her second meet for the Penguins, clocked a 1:04.83 to win the women's 100 breaststroke. Her time ranks fifth-fastest for YSU all-time. Vetter also placed sixth in the 200 breast, clocking a 2:28.27.
Macy Wang earned three top-10 performances. She finished fourth in the 100 breast with a time of 2:27.97. She was also fifth in the 200 IM, clocking a 2:10.23. In the 200 free, she placed seventh with a time of 1:57.47
Freshmen Valeria Sanchez-Cordero and Summer Raymer finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 500 free. Sanchez-Cordero clocked a 5:18.72 in her top-five performance while Raymer swam a 5:21.14 for sixth. Sanchez-Cordero also picked up a sixth-place finish in the 1650 free with a time of 18:17.00.
Kamden Batchik picked up a seventh-place finish in the 100 fly, clocking a 1:00.52, while freshman Zoe Gallagher finished seventh in the 200 fly with a time of 2:12.33.
Both the University of Indianapolis men and women won the invite with 1371.5 and 1196 points, respectively.
The Penguins will return to action at the highly anticipated Horizon League Championships beginning on Wednesday, February 15 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
