Penguins Open Busy Weekend at Denison Saturday, Compete at Butler Invite Sunday

The Youngstown State men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set for a busy weekend as they take on Denison and Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday in Granville, Ohio and then head to Fishers, Ind. on Sunday to compete at the Butler Invitational.
The double dual meet hosted by Denison on Saturday will begin at 10 a.m. The Butler Invitational is set for noon on Sunday where YSU will face off against eight teams: Ball State, Butler, Eastern Illinois, Hillsdale, IUPUI, University of Indianapolis, Valparaiso, and Xavier.
Last Time Out
The diving squad was last in action on Saturday as they hosted Clarion in the Beeghly Natatorium.
In both the women's one-meter and three-meter, YSU finished three divers in the top five. Kayla Wrasman finished an impressive second in the three-meter with a score of 244.20. Tess Weiskopf earned the second-place nod in the one-meter, finishing with a score of 246.38.
Simon Iwanonkiw led the Guins in the men's three-meter, scoring a 243.08 to finish second. Freshman Zachary Lao finished third in the men's one-meter dive, delivering a score of 238.58.
The swimmers last competed in a double dual against Horizon League foes, Oakland and IUPUI. The Penguins were defeated by the Golden Grizzles and Jaguars but turned in impressive individual event victories.
Gavin Webb, the reigning men's 1650 free Horizon League Champion, finished first in the event, beating the competition by over 30 seconds with a time of 15:34.00. He also placed second in the 500 and 1000 free with times of 4:36.43 and 9:31.81, respectively.
Aleksa Radenovic earned victories in both the 100 and 200 fly. He clocked a 47.98 in the 100 fly and a 1:49.28 in the 200 fly. He bested the competition by over a second in both events. He also earned two runner-up finishes in the 200 IM and 50 fly. His time of 21.73 in the 50 fly surpassed his previous school record of 21.75. He clocked a 1:53.02 in the 200 IM in his second-place performance. He also finished third in the 200 back with a time of 1:51.87 to round out his incredible performance against many of the top athletes in the Horizon League.
Freshman James Slessor delivered impressive performances in the breaststroke events. He finished third in both the 50 and 100 breast. His time of 25.63 in the 50 breast bested the school record he set last weekend by over a second. He clocked a 55.71 in the 100 breast to finish top three.
For the women, freshman Miriam Frass led the women's squad with two runner-up finishes in the 500 and 1000 free with time of 5:08.14 and 10:28.15, respectively. She also finished third in the 1650 free, clocking a 17:25.62. Frass was also fifth in the 200 free with a time of 1:57.68.
Freshman Anna Kozinska finished top three in both the 100 and 200 back. She clocked a 58.06 in the 100 back and a 2:09.75 in the 200 back to place third.
