Youngstown State returns home for the start of four straight contests at Beeghly Center when it entertains Oakland, Friday, Jan. 27. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and 570 WKBN.

Last Time Out
Youngstown State had its five-game winning streak snapped with an 88-75 loss at Milwaukee on Jan. 21. Brandon Rush led the Penguins with 19 points while Malek Green recorded his fifth double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Scouting Oakland
Oakland enters the game with an 9-12 overall record and a 7-3 mark in Horizon League play. Trey Townsend leads the Golden Grizzlies with 16.6 points per game while Jalen Moore is averaging 16.3 points per contest.

This is the 33rd meeting between Youngstown State and Oakland in a series that dates back to 1999. Oakland leads the all-time series, 21-11, but the Penguins won the last two meetings - 85-69 on Jan. 14, 2023 and 78-71 on Feb. 9, 2022, at Beeghly Center.

Over the last three games, the Penguins offensive efficiency was 1.133 points per possession. Youngstown State was ranked ahead of the likes of Houston, Purdue, and Gonzaga. Rush Hour
Brandon Rush has been difficult to stop on the offensive end of the floor lately. Since being inserted into the starting lineup, the last 12 games, Rush has been the Penguins top offensive scoring threat. Over that span, Rush averaged 17.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
Hot Start
Youngstown State is off to one of the best starts in its Division I history. The Penguins' 15-6 record marks just the third time since 1981-82 that the Penguins won at least 15 of their first 21 games. Youngstown State went 16-5 in 1997-98 and 15-6 in 1994-95.
