Penguins Face Conference Foes Oakland and IUPUI in Two-Day Clash

The Youngstown State men's and women's swimming and diving teams will head to Rochester, Mich. on Friday and Saturday to take on Horizon League opponents Oakland and IUPUI at the Oakland Aquatic Center.
Friday's events are slated to begin at 5 p.m., and the meet will continue at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Both the Oakland men and women won the Horizon League Championships last season while IUPUI finished third. The YSU men finished fifth, and the women finished sixth.
Last Time Out
The men's swimming and diving team defeated Niagara, 164-133, this past weekend.
James Slessor, Aleksa Radenovic, and Gavin Webb all earned multiple individual event victories.
Slessor finished first in the 50 and 200 breast. His time of 26.94 in the 50 breast set a school record. He clocked a 2:09.00 in his victory in the 200 breast.
Radenovic clocked a 1:57.49 in the 200 fly to earn the victory as well as won the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.96.
Webb finished first in both the 500 and 1000 free, swimming times of 4:44.34 and 9:45.77, respectively.
Also earning a victory for the Penguins was Dominic Bono in the 200 back, finishing with a time of 1:56.59.
The men's diving squad finished first in both the one- and three-meter dives. Simon Iwanonkiw finished first in the men's one-meter dive with a score of 262.15, while Zachary Lao earned the victory in the three-meter, scoring a 274.70.
The women's swimming and diving team fell to Duquesne, 232-65, and Niagara, 152-143.
Freshman Miriam Frass turned in another round of impressive performances earning two runner-up finishes. She finished second in the 500 and 1000 free, clocking times of 5:06.80 and 10:32.79, respectively. She also finished fourth in the 200 free with a time 1:59.10.
Hailey Clark placed fourth in the 1000 free with a time of 11:01.53. She also finished fifth in the 50 breast, swimming a 32.52.
Freshman Anna Kozinska clocked a 2:10.17 in the 200 back to finish fourth. She also finished fourth in the 50 back with a time of 27:58.
Kayla Wrasman led the women's diving squad finishing second in the women's one-meter dive with a score of 264.90 and third in the three-meter with a score of 251.65.

Up Next
The Penguins divers will host Clarion in a dual diving meet on Jan. 21 in the Beeghly Natatorium at noon. This will conclude YSU's competition at home.
The swimmers will return to action with the divers the following Saturday to start a busy weekend. They will face Denison in Granville, Ohio on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. before traveling to Fishers, Ind. on Sunday, Jan. 29 to compete at the Butler Invite slated to begin at noon at Fishers High School. They will face Xavier, Ball State, Hillsdale, IUPUI, Eastern Illinois, UIndy, Valpo, and Butler.
