The Youngstown State football team held its first workout of fall camp on Wednesday morning at Stambaugh Stadium.
YSU worked out for more than two hours on a warm morning.
On offense, the Penguins were led by top returnees QB
Demeatric Crenshaw, TB
Jaleel McLaughlin and WR
Bryce Oliver. The Guins also return their entire starting offensive line in
Ryan Johnson,
Jaison Williams,
Mike McAllister,
Aidan Parker and
David Metzler. Other top targets on offense include tailback
Dra Rushton, WR
C.J. Charleston and TE
Jake Benio.
On offense, the Guins added Eastern Michigan transfer
Latrell Fordham and Michigan State transfer
Trenton Gillison who each took part in their first YSU practice today.
YSU returns
Chris Fitzgerald,
Anthony Johnson,
Hunter Allen,
Dylan Wudke,
Dawan Martin,
James Jackson and
Andres Lehrmann on the defensive front. At linebacker,
Griffin Hoak,
Logan Pasco and
Alex Howard are joined by Western Illinois transfer, who was a preseason second-team All-MVFC pick. In the secondary, the Penguins return
Troy Jakubec,
Amarian Robinson,
Natavious Payne,
Quincy Lenton,
Tyjon Jones Alijah Curtis and
Gage Salyers. In the offseason, YSU added Ohio State transfer
Marcus Hooker to the secondary.
The specialists are led by senior PK
Colt McFadden, punt returner
Randy Smith, long snapper
Sam Merryman and punter
Paddy Lynch.
