Continuing its ongoing four-game Mid-American Conference win streak, the Youngstown State women's lacrosse team bested in-state rival Kent State in its regular-season home finale on Senior day at Farmers National Bank Field, 18-11.

With the victory, the Penguins earned the season sweep over the Golden Flashes and improve to 9-7 overall and 7-2 in MAC play, while Kent State falls to 5-11 on the year, including a 2-7 record in conference play. 

First-year Penguin Natalie Calandra-Ryan netted five goals across nine shots on goal to lead all scorers during the contest. Calandra-Ryan now has five games this season with at least five goals scored. Adding to the already impressive stat line, Calandra-Ryan picked-up three ground balls, grabbed eight draw controls and forced three caused turnovers.

Ali Korin continues her impressive mid-season stretch, tallying four goals scored on seven shots on goal while adding four assists to log a game-high eight points. The grad-transfer has now scored at least four goals in seven of the last eight games.

Erin Clark (3), Abby Yesko (2) and Tristen Chang (2) also logged multi-goal outings.

Savannah Clarke made a full appearance on Senior Day, making 10 saves across 21 Golden Flashes' shots. Saturday's contest acted as the ninth contest of the season that Clarke's made at least 10 saves.

Kubicki highlighted the Golden Flashes' scoring effort, tallying a hat trick of goals on six total shots. Kubicki also picked up two ground balls and grabbed a draw control.

After Kent State's Kubicki scoring the first goal of the contest to give the Golden Flashes an early 1-0 lead, the Penguins used a 2-0 scoring run following goals by Yesko and Lauren Ottensmeyer to take a 2-1 advantage by the 6:16 mark of the opening quarter.

Following a Kent State goal to deadlock the score at 2-all, Korin found the back of the net at the 2:23 mark of the quarter first beginning a 6-0 scoring run that stretched to the 6:05 that gave YSU a commanding 8-2 lead.

The Penguins went into the halftime owning a 10-3 lead, ending the half on a 2-1 run following goals by Emma Carter and Clark.

Out of the break, the Penguins and Golden Flashes scored three goals apiece in the third and five goals in the fourth to close the final thirty minutes. YSU held an eight-goal lead from the 13:47 point of the fourth quarter until the Golden Flashes final goal at the 1:46 mark.

The Penguins act as the road team in their final regular-season contest against conference-leading Robert Morris on Saturday, April 30. First draw is slated for Noon at Joe Walton Stadium in Moon Township, Penn. With a victory, YSU will clinch a share of the MAC regular season title.

In the two teams' first matchup of the season at Farmers National Bank Field on March 23, the Colonials ousted the Penguins, 18-7.
