Women's Tennis Tops Duquesne 4-3 in Final Non-League Dual

The Youngstown State women's tennis team earned the doubles point and won three singles points to top Duquesne 4-3 on Friday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Penguins improved to 6-8 overall and 3-1 at home as they topped the Dukes in the final non-conference dual of the 2021-22 slate. Duquesne is now 5-7.
Youngstown State captured the doubles point as Cecilia Rosas and Julia Marko won 7-6 in the top position while Eliska Masarikova and Elisa Rigazio won 6-3 at No. 3. In singles play, Masarikova won in three sets at No. 2 (6-1, 4-6, 6-2), and Marko (6-1, 6-0) and Rigazio (6-2, 6-1) won handily in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 4.
Also in singles, Rosas and Oliveira fell in three-set bouts at No. 1 and No. 6, and Jessica Stanmore fell in two close sets at No. 5.
Youngstown State will begin its Horizon League slate on April 3 by hosting Oakland at 11 a.m.
