LB Alex Howard Named MVFC Defensive Player of the Week

Youngstown State linebacker Alex Howard was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Defensive Player of the Week following an impressive performance in the Penguins' 19-17 come-from-behind victory at Illinois State this past Saturday.
Howard, in his second career start, had a team and career-high 11 tackles against the Redbirds. He had three solo stops, eight assists and a QB hurry in the win. On the final play of the game, he recovered an Illinois State fumble to end the game. His previous best was six tackles.
It marks the second consecutive week that a Penguin earned Valley Football defensive accolades. Following the win over South Dakota, DE Dylan Wudke earned the honor.
Other MVFC players earning honors for their efforts this past week were RB TaMerik Williams, North Dakota State (Offense), K/P Hunter Dustman, South Dakota State (Special Teams) and QB Aidan Bouman, South Dakota (Newcomer).
The Penguins return to action on Saturday when they visit Missouri State.
