Youngstown State football student-athletes Griffin Hoak, David Metzler, Colt McFadden and Dylan Wudke were were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District First-Team, the association announced on Tuesday.
The four were among a large group named to this year's Division I class and all Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-December.
Metzler started all 11 games at left tackle for the Penguins during the 2022 campaign. He has started 17 straight games for the Penguins.
McFadden made 16-of-22 field-goal attempts (72.7 percent) and was 32-of-32 on PAT tries in his final campaign. He made a 42-yard field goal at the buzzer to win at Western Illinois and kicked a career-long 52-yarder against South Dakota, the longest by YSU since 2003 during the year.
Hoak was YSU's nominee for William V. Campbell Trophy in 2022. This past season, he played in nine games, making eight starts and was credited with 28 tackles on the year, including 18 solo stops.
Wudke started all 11 games at defensive end in 2022. He finished third on the team with 43 total tackles, including 23 solo stops to go along with 12 TFLs and five sacks.
