Jaleel McLaughlin Earns MVFC Player-of-the-Week Honors

Youngstown State senior running back Jaleel McLaughlin was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Against Missouri State this past Saturday, rushed for 227 yards on 28 carries and a touchdown as the Penguins dropped a 25-22 decision at Missouri State on Saturday. He scored on a 65-yard run against the Bears. During the contest, McLaughlin became the NCAA's all-time leader in career rushing yards. He now has 8,082 yards to break the record of 8,074 set by Mount Union's Nate Kmic (2005-08).
Additionally, McLaughlin set a school record with the fifth 200-yard rushing performance of his YSU career.
This season, McLaughlin has rushed for 1,504 yards on 205 carries and scored 11 touchdowns. In MVFC games, he has rushed for 1,136 yards on 163 attempts with seven scores.
North Dakota quarterback Tommy Schuster of North Dakota shared the honor with McLaughlin while LB James Kaczor of North Dakota State was the defensive player of the week, CB/RS Montrae Braswell of Missouri State was the special teams player of the week and LB Malachi McNeal of North Dakota was the Newcomer of the Week.
YSU plays host to Southern Illinois on Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium. Kickoff is set for Noon.
