
Borum Posts Nine Kills as YSU Falls to NKU

The Youngstown State volleyball team lost 3-0 for the second straight night to Northern Kentucky at Beeghly Center. The set scores were 25-19, 25-16, 25-18.
Josi Borum had a match-high nine kills and posted three kills in each set for the Penguins, who had nine more kills and three more blocks than Monday evening. Lexie Beeke had a team-best 12 assists, Margaux Thompson had 14 digs, and Borum was one of three YSU players with two blocks.
Peytton Bagwell, Anna Brinkmann and Miranda Wucherer had eight kills apiece for NKU, which improved to 6-3 overall and 5-3 in conference play. Bagwell registered a .538 attack percentage.
YSU scored six of the first eight points of the evening behind two kills and a block from Borum, but NKU responded with eight straight points to take an 8-6 lead. The Norse led for the remainder of the set and won 25-19. Northern Kentucky ended the second set on an 11-4 run en route to a 25-16 set win, and it scored the first four points of the third to prompt a Penguins timeout. YSU came out with some energy and eventually took a 14-13 lead. NKU's lead was just 18-16 following a Borum ace, but the Norse scored seven of the final nine points of the match.
Youngstown State will play its final two scheduled home matches of the regular season next week as it hosts Robert Morris on Monday and Tuesday at Beeghly Center.
