2023 (Fifth Year): Served as a team captain... Named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Volleyball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators... Also earned Honorable Mention listing on the Horizon League All-Academic Team... Became the first active Division I player in the country in 2023 to reach 1,000 career kills, digs and assists... Started all 29 matches and appeared in 113 sets... Totaled a team-high 564 assists while also ranking among the top four on the team with 225 kills, 17 aces, 290 digs and 40 blocks... Averaged 4.99 assists, 2.57 digs, 1.99 kills, 0.35 blocks and 0.15 aces per set... Averaged 4.81 assists, 2.57 digs and 1.74 kills against Horizon League opponents... 2022 (Senior): Named Second Team All-Horizon League after leading the nation with 10 triple-doubles… Named the Penguin Queen of the Year at the program's postseason awards banquet… Named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team… Served as a team captain… Played in 29 matches, all of which she started, as a setter and right-side hitter in YSU's 6-2 offense… Posted totals of 274 kills, 593 assists, 285 digs and 61 blocks for averages of 2.4 kills, 5.2 assists, 2.5 digs and 0.54 blocks per set… Also registered 333.5 points for 2.93 points per set, and she hit .271 on 671 attempts… Averaged 2.64 kills, 5.36 assists, 2.71 digs and 0.53 blocks per set against Horizon League opponents… Ranked second on the team in kills, assists, digs and blocks while also ranking third in aces… Her 10 triple-doubles were four more than any other Division I player and the fourth-most in the country regardless of division in 2022… There were three triple-doubles in program history coming into the season… Eight of the triple-doubles came in her 17 matches against Horizon League opponents… Ranked among the top 10 leaders in the conference in hitting percentage and assists per set… Notched her 1,000th assist as a Penguin in the match on Oct. 29 at IUPUI, becoming the 13th player in school history to reach the milestone… Named to All-Tournament Teams at the YSU / DoubleTree Youngstown Volleyball Invitational and the Western New York Invitational… Had a career-high 20 kills in a five-set win at IUPUI (10/29)… Registered a career-best eight blocks in a five-set victory over Robert Morris (10/7).
2021 (Junior): Was one of two players to appear in all 106 sets and start all 29 matches… A solid all-around contributor, she ranked second on the team in kills (177), assists (403), aces (24) and blocks(41) while leading the team with 303 digs… Averaged 1.67 kills, 3.80 assists, 0.23 assists, 0.39 blocks and 2.86 digs per set… Recorded nine double-doubles, including in seven of YSU’s final 10 matches after she slid over to become the starting setter… Averaged 9.76 assists per set over her final nine matches… Had a career-high 53 assists and led a Penguins offense that hit .273 in a five-setter against Green Bay… Before setting full-time, she was YSU’s primary right-side hitter… Had a season-best 15 kills at Central Michigan in four sets (9/4)… Had 12 kills on just 21 attempts without committing an error to hit .571 at Green Bay (10/14)… That was the ninth-best attack percentage with at least 20 attempts in a rally-scoring match in program history… Surpassed 500 career digs in the match at Robert Morris (10/8).
2020-21 (Sophomore - COVID-19 waiver): Started all 14 matches and appeared in 46 out of 47 sets... Totaled 122 kills, 107 assists, 93 digs, 14 blocks and five aces... Had 47 more kills than the next-highest Penguin, and she also ranked second on the team in assists and blocks while ranking third in digs... Paced YSU in kills in 13 of its 14 matches while averaging 2.65 kills per set on a .122 attack percentage... Posted the first triple-double by a Penguin since 2008 with 17 kills, 17 digs and 22 assists on March 8 against Robert Morris... It is believed to be just the second triple-double in program history, and she was one of just 22 Division I players in the country during the season to record a triple-double... Also had two additional double-doubles... Had at least 10 kills in five matches, at least 10 assists four times and at least 10 digs four times... Her highest kill total came in the season opener when she had 18 kills to go along with 10 digs and a season-high four blocks... Posted a season-best 17 digs and 22 assists in the triple-double against RMU (3/8).
2019 (Chicago State): Was Chicago State's top attacker with 302 kills in 2019... Added 440 assists and 229 digs... Was named to the WAC All-Freshman Team and ranked sixth in the country with four triple-doubles.
High School: Helped lead Sterling High School to its first-ever state title in volleyball a 41-4 record her senior year... Posted 12 kills and 15 assists in the Class 3A state championship match, including a kill on match point... Broke the school record for assists as a junior... Named first-team all-conference her final three years and was the MVP as a junior... Named all-state and MVP of the Sauk Valley area her senior year... Also committed to play basketball at Chicago State.
Personal: Full name is Josilyn... Parents are Bill and Tami... Has three sisters (Jailyn, Breelyn and Brooklyn)... Jailyn played volleyball at Illinois-Springfield from 2016-19, Bree is currently a setter at Loyola Chicago, and , and Brooklyn is currently and outside hitter at Virginia... Earned her bachelor's degree in psychology in the spring of 2023... Is pursuing her Master of Business Administration degree.
