Box Score The Youngstown State women's lacrosse team (1-2, 1-2 MAC) fell to Mid-American Conference opponent Central Michigan (4-4, 2-0 MAC) Friday at Farmers National Bank Field, 17-4.
Callie Vaudry notched her second multi-goal game of the season, finding the back of the net twice during the contest. Lauren Ottensmeyer and Jordan Miller were credited with the Penguins' two other scores.
Senior goalkeeper Elicia Wells tallied 15 saves during a 60-minute outing in the cage, upping her total to 39 on the year.
YSU tallied a season-high eight draw controls during the clash with Central Michigan and were led by Miller and Emma Carter, tallying two apiece.
Aryss Lindsay and Wells notched a team-best three ground balls apiece, while Carter, Erin Clark and Ottensmeyer were credited with two ground balls.
The Chippewas jumped out to a 5-0 lead before Ottensmeyer got YSU on the board with a free-position goal with 19:05 remaining in the first half. With the score, Ottensmeyer has tallied eight goals on the season – a team-best.
After a Central Michigan score, Vaudry netted her first-of-two first half unassisted goals with 14:58 on the clock to bring the Chippewas' advantage back to four.
Following a 3-0 CMU surge, Vaudry cashed in on her second goal of evening and fifth goal of the year.
YSU would go onto score once more out of the halftime locker room, with Miller adding her second goal of her collegiate career with 14:06 left in the contest.
The Penguins are back in action March 28 against in-state rival Kent State, completing their two-game home stand at Farmers National Bank Field. First draw is scheduled for 2 p.m.
