
Penguins Drop Saturday Match to Purdue Fort Wayne

The Youngstown State volleyball team got a career-best six kills from Cheyenne Hlady in a three-set loss to Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday at Beeghly Center. The set scores were 25-18, 25-15, 25-20.
The Mastodons hit .350 over the first two sets as they built a 2-0 lead, and the visitors held off the Penguins with a late run in the third set.
Hlady, a freshman middle blocker from Mississauga, Ontario, had those six kills on 11 attempts for a .455 attack percentage Josi Borum registered a team-high seven kills while contributing 10 digs, and Reilly Seagroves led all players with 15 digs.
Katie Crowe had a match-high 12 kills in 24 attempts for Purdue Fort Wayne, and three Mastodons had eight kills.
A 9-3 run allowed the 'Dons to turn a 12-11 lead into a 21-14 advantage in the first set, and the visitors scored the final six points of the second set to take a 2-0 lead. Purdue Fort Wayne then built an 8-1 lead in the third set, but the Penguins battled and got within a point at 18-17 late. The Mastodons closed the match with a 7-3 spurt.
Youngstown State will conclude its four-match homestand on Sunday against IUPUI at 2 p.m.
