Penguins Drop Three-Setter at UIC on Friday

The Youngstown State volleyball team lost in three sets at UIC on Friday evening at the Flames Athletic Center in Chicago. The set scores were 25-16, 25-14, 25-15.
Paula Gursching paced the Penguins offensively with nine kills in 23 attempts, but the Flames held the rest of YSU's roster to 12 kills on 49 swings. Gursching had seven of those kills in the second set when she accounted for seven of YSU's nine kills in the stanza. Josi Borum recorded a team-high 12 digs, and Nadia Pace had two blocks.
Paola Santiago led the Flames offensively with 11 kills on a .450 attack percentage, and she also had three of UIC's seven aces.
Youngstown State will wrap up its three-match road trip at Milwaukee on Sunday. The contest against the league-leading Panthers will begin at 2 p.m. Eastern, and it will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
