Columbus-area standout Lizzie Saur has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Youngstown State women's golf program in the fall of 2021, Head Coach Nate Miklos announced on Thursday.
"We are very excited that Lizzie is joining our program," Miklos said. "Lizzie has the talent and ability to play at a very high level. Her leadership, attitude and work ethic really stood out to me throughout the recruiting process. She will join a veteran group next year and adds more depth to a very talented group."
Saur, a native of Grove City, Ohio, was named the Ohio Capital Conference Player of the Year in both 2019 and 2020 for Grove City High School. She has been a first-team all-conference selection each of the last three seasons. Saur was named second-team all-district in 2018 before being recognized as a first-team all-district pick in 2019 and 2020.
Saur helped lead Grove City to its first league title in 2019 as the Greyhounds finished 18-2 in league action. She earned medalist honors at the league tournament with a 71 to claim her third individual victory of the 2019 campaign. The Greyhounds went on to earn another league crown in 2020, finishing first in the OCC-Ohio Division at 20-0.
Saur garnered second-team all-state honors in 2019, finishing tied for seventh at the state tournament with a two-round score of 145 (73-72). She became Grove City's first-ever female state qualifier, earning the berth by carding a 78 in the district tournament.
In 2019, Saur posted a nine-hole scoring average of 38 and an 18-hole average of 73.3 during conference play with a low round of 70. In 2020, she recorded an 18-hole conference average of 73.7 while shooting a low round of 68. Saur claimed medalist honors at the 2019 Indiana Elite College Golf Showcase with a two-round total of 150 (76-74). She was also recently awarded with the Grove City High School Heisman Award.
