Volleyball Drops Three Setter to Cleveland State on Friday

Sophomore right-side hitter Brooklen Pe'a led the Youngstown State volleyball team with 12 kills on Friday evening as the Penguins fell in three sets at Beeghly Center to Cleveland State. The set scores were 25-10, 25-13, 25-17.
Pe'a had 12 kills on a match-high 38 attempts, and Aleah Hughes was next in the kills column for Youngstown State with seven. Four of their teammates had two kills apiece. Margaux Thompson had 10 digs, and Valor Haggerty was YSU's top blocker with three. Libbie Darling distributed 25 assists.
Trinniti Hall had 14 kills and hit .387 to lead Cleveland State, which posted a .406 attack percentage as a team.
Cleveland State was in control for most of the first two sets, but Youngstown State built a 9-6 lead early in the third to force a Vikings timeout. YSU's last lead came at 11-10 following a Hughes kill, but Cleveland State scored the next four points to take a 14-11 advantage. YSU got within two twice, and the margin was 20-17 before the Vikings scored the final five points of the match.
Youngstown State will play at IUPUI on Sunday at 2 p.m.
