Thompson Collects 1,000th Career Dig at Oakland

Youngstown State junior Margaux Thompson became the 17th player in program history to reach 1,000 career digs as the Penguins fell in three sets at Oakland on Sunday. The set scores were 25-21, 25-15, 25-12.
Thompson finished the afternoon with 13 digs to increase her career total to 1,005. She has registered more than 300 digs in each of her three seasons, and she is averaging a career-best 3.92 digs per set in 2019 as she has split time between the outside hitter and libero positions.
Brooklen Pe'a paced Youngstown State offensively with eight kills, and Valor Haggerty had her highest kills total since August with seven. Haggerty hit a team-best .312, and she added a team-high three blocks.
Jamie Walling and Taylor Dellinger combined for 25 kills in 54 attempts, and Lindsay Wightman had 20 digs to lead the Golden Grizzlies.
Youngstown State will host IUPUI on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Beeghly Center.
