Pe'a Solid Again in Loss at UIC

Brooklen Pe'a had a match-best 12 kills as the Youngstown State volleyball team lost 3-0 to UIC at the Flames Athletic Center on Saturday. The set scores were 25-19, 25-17, 25-19.
Pe'a had double the kills of any other Penguin, and she posted a .360 attack percentage. Aleah Hughes had a team-high 12 digs, two aces and six kills, and Margaux Thompson also had six kills.
Tatyana Ndekwe posted 10 kills to lead UIC to its sixth consecutive victory. Lauren Musante had a match-high 15 digs and 18 assists.
Youngstown State led 12-11 in the opening set on a Libbie Darling kill, and the score was tied at late as 17-17. That's when UIC scored five straight points to go up 22-17, and the run extended to 8-2 as the Flames finished off a 25-19 win.
UIC made another late push in the second set by scoring the final seven points. A Thompson kill got the Penguins within 18-17, but YSU had three attack errors while UIC had four kills in the next seven points. The Flames never trailed in the third set, and YSU fought to trim a 10-point deficit down to four before falling 25-19.
Youngstown State will return home host Cleveland State on Friday at 6 p.m.P
