Milwaukee used a nine-run fourth inning to beat the Youngstown State baseball team 14-5 in game one of a three-game series at Henry Aaron Field on Thursday.

Shane Willoughby hit a two-run double for YSU as part of a three-run first inning for the Penguins, and his RBI single in the in the top of the second gave the Penguins a 4-0 lead.

John Boidanis led off the bottom of the second with a home run for the Panthers, and Ben Chally's RBI triple two batters later brought UWM to within 4-2. Milwaukee then scored nine runs on eight hits and two walks in the bottom of the fourth to take an 11-4 lead. Six of those runs scored after there were two outs, and the Penguins used three pitchers in the inning. Milwaukee added a run in the fifth to go up 12-4.

Youngstown State's Andrew Kendrick hit a home run with one out in the seventh inning for the Penguins' final run, and the Panthers added a pair of runs in the eighth.

Willoughby finished 2-for-5 with three RBIs, and Kendrick added a double to go along with his home run. Nico Padovan drew all three walks by Penguins batters.

Chally and Chris Kelly both had four hits for Milwaukee.

YSU starter Gino DiVincenzo was charged with six runs on seven hits before leaving with one out in the fourth inning. Zack Minney blanked the Panthers in the sixth and seventh innings. Milwaukee's Austin Schulfer pitched the first eight innings and allowed all five runs on nine hits while striking out seven batters.

The Penguins will try to even the series on Friday at 2 p.m. Eastern.
