Greenville, S.C. -- Senior Sarah Dowd hit her third home run this season and the 32nd of her career and junior Hannah Lucas went 2-for-3 but the Youngstown State softball team dropped a 4-1 decision to Furman on Sunday afternoon.
Dowd needs just two more home runs to tie and three more to break the YSU career record of 34 set by McKenzie Bedra (2005-08).
Junior Cali Mikovich doubled and senior Brittney Moffatt also had hits for the Penguins, who fall to 2-12 overall.
The Penguins return to action in a doubleheader against Presbyterian, Tuesday, March 7, starting 2 p.m.
