
Maddi Lusk's One-Hitter Leads Softball to Split at UNC-Wilmington Tournament

Wilmington, N.C. -- Freshman Maddi Lusk fired a one-hit shutout and junior Cali Mikovich went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in to lead the Youngstown State softball team to a 5-0 win over Siena on Friday morning. The Penguins also lost to Hampton, 2-0, later in the day.
The Penguins improve to 4-15 on the season and take on Siena and UNC-Wilmington, Saturday, at 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively.
Junior Hannah Lucas went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a run batted in while senior Maria Lacatena belted her team-leading fourth home run of the season, a solo shot in the bottom of the third inning.
The Penguins scored two in the bottom of the first on a run-scoring double by Mikovich and a run-scoring single by senior Sarah Dowd.
Lacatena's home run in the third inning to make the score 3-0, and Lucas and Mikovich added back-to-back runs-scoring singles in the bottom of the fourth.
In the night cap, Dowd and sophomore Demi Ann Patonis collected the Penguins' lone hits against Hampton.
