Bowling Finishes 14th After Dramatic Sunday in Houston

The No. 24 Youngstown State bowling team split two seven-game bracket battles with No. 18 North Carolina A&T and finished its weekend at the Stormin' Ladyjack Classic in 14th place. The event was held at Copperfield Bowl in Houston, Texas.
The Penguins began Sunday's bracket play in 14th place, and that's where they finished after going 1-2 in their three matches. YSU beat North Carolina A&T 4-3 in the first match of the day, coming back from a 3-1 deficit to win. YSU then lost 4-0 to No. 8 Delaware State to set up a rematch with the Aggies. Youngstown State rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the match, and the teams tied with a 171 in game seven. North Carolina A&T won the tiebreaking roll off 105-69 to take the match 4.5-3.5. It was the first roll off in YSU's program history.
Youngstown State finished the tournament ahead of No. 10 Sacred Heart, No. 12 Monmouth and No. 13 Tulane.
YSU's bowlers will be back in action next weekend at the three-day Crusader Classic hosted by Valparaiso. That tournament will be held at Lakewood Bowl in Richton Park, Ill.
