Wright State scored five runs in the fourth inning and three more in the sixth to beat the Youngstown State baseball team 9-2 on Sunday afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium.

Shane Willoughby had a pair of hits, and Lorenzo Arcuri hit an RBI single and walked twice for YSU.

The game was scoreless for three innings before Wright State scored five runs on three hits, two errors, a walk and a hit batter in the fourth. Gabe Snyder led off the inning with a double, and he scored the game's first run two batters later on JD Orr's RBI single. That was the only run-scoring hit in the inning as the other four scored on a fielder's choice, an error, a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly.

Another sacrifice fly and a two-run single by Ryan Fucci in the sixth put the Raiders up 8-0.

Youngstown State's first run came in the seventh when Alex Larivee walked and scored on Arcuri's two-out infield single.

Wright State got the run back in the bottom of the seventh Kevin Whatley homered to left, and YSU's second tally came in the eighth when Gerrad Rohan singled and scored on an error.

YSU starter Collin Floyd allowed three earned runs on five hits in 3.1 innings, and the Raiders scored three runs off Jared Wight in 2.2 innings. Joel Hake gave up Whatley's homer in the seventh, and Ryan Smith pitched a scoreless eighth.

Wright State starter Caleb Sampen allowed two hits and walked three batters in six shutout innings to improve his record to 2-0.

Youngstown State is scheduled to play its first midweek game of the season at Ohio on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Penguins will then open their home schedule at Eastwood against Milwaukee on Thursday at 3 p.m.
