Softball Falls to Lehigh, 12-4, on Day One at UNC-Greensboro Tournament

Greensboro, N.C. -- Senior Jordan Macey went 2-for-3 and junior Maria Lacatena hit a three-run home run, but the Youngstown State softball team dropped a 12-4 decision to Lehigh on Friday afternoon at the UNC-Greensboro Tournament.
With the loss the Penguins fall to 2-2 on the season.
After falling behind 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning, the Penguins scored four in the top of the second to take a 4-2 lead. Sophomore Cali Mikovich walked to lead off the inning and went to third on a double by Alexandria Gibson. Lacatena followed with three-run homer to right-center field - her first home run of the season - to give the Penguins a 3-2 edge.
Macey's two-out single to center continue the rally and junior Sarah Dowd walked and junior Brittney Moffett reached on an error to load the bases. Senior Miranda Castiglione drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Macey and put the Penguins up, 4-2.
Lehigh answered with four runs in the bottom of the second, four in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the sixth.
The Penguins face Iona at 9:30 a.m. and Lehigh at Noon on Saturday.
