NKU Sweeps Volleyball on Wednesday Night

Keely Creamer had 16 kills in 19 attempts to help Northern Kentucky sweep the Youngstown State volleyball team on Wednesday night at Regents Hall. The set scores were 25-21, 25-14, 25-20.
Creamer hit .842 individually, which helped the Norse post a .337 attack percentage collectively. Lori Vanbeek led the Penguins with 13 kills on a .393 attack percentage, and she added a match-high four blocks.
In the first set there were two lead changes and nine ties, the last of which was at 13-13. YSU held a 13-11 lead before the Norse scored six straight points to go up 17-13. The margin was at least two in favor of NKU the rest of the set.
Creamer had kills on all seven of her attempts in the second set, which helped the Norse .517 in the 25-14 set.
YSU led 10-8 in the third set, and the score was tied for the final time at 15-15 following a Val Jeffery ace. The Penguins trailed 19-18 after a Vanbeek kill, and NKU ended the match on a 6-2 run.
Youngstown State will conclude the first half of Horizon League play on Friday at 6 p.m. by hosting UIC at Beeghly Center.
