Three Pick Up Wins As Penguins Drop Match to Duquesne

Boardman - The Youngstown State women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to Duquese on Friday night at the Boardman Tennis Center. Picking up wins for the Penguins were Annina Brendel, Nehel Sahni and Marta Burak.
After dropping the doubles point, YSU (0-1) rallied to win three of the first five completed singles matches. At No. 1, Burak made quick work of Alexa Miller winning a pair of sets 6-2, 6-1. Sahni outworked her opponent to earn a comeback win in three sets by scores of 4-6, 7-5 and 6-0 at No. 4. Brendel grinded out a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 come-from-behind win at No. 3 over Spencer Caravaggio.
The Dukes (2-1) won the final two singles matches as Chandler Consonery held off the Penguins' Victoria Ferry at No. 5 singles while Julienne Heino lost 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 to Megan Wasson.
YSU returns to action on Sunday when it visits Bowling Green.
