The Youngstown State women's tennis team plays host to Duquesne on Friday night at the Boardman Tennis Center. The dual is set to start at 7 p.m.
The YSU men will also be in action against the Dukes at 7 p.m. The Boardman Tennis Center is located at 1223 West Western Reserve Road, Youngstown, OH 44514.
The Penguins opened the spring season last week against West Virginia of the Big 12 and Pittsburgh from the ACC. Dominika Lackova, who was named the Horizon League Tennis Player of the Week, posted two singles wins and a doubles victory.
YSU will be looking to start off the dual season on a high note. The Penguins have back-to-back winning seasons and are coming off a 14-12 campaign in 2014. YSU closed out last season winning six of its final seven dual matches nine of its final 12.
Duquesne is 1-1 on the season after posting a win over Butler and dropping a match to Louisville in January.
The Penguins beat Duquesne 6-1 last year and have won the last two duals in the series. This will be the first meeting between the two schools in Youngstown since April 2010.
It will be the first dual with the new ITA scoring format for the Penguins. Starting this spring, doubles matches will be played to just six points, instead of eight as in the past. Also, once the doubles point is clinched by one team, any match that is still in progress ends.
Also, several scoring tweaks have been made to make singles matches move at a faster pace as well.
YSU plays 10 home dual matches this year, with the next contest scheduled for Feb. 3 against Akron. The Penguins will play 23 duals this spring.
The Guins are also in action on Sunday at Bowling Green.
