After back-to-back games with offensive explosions, Wright State used strong pitching and timely hitting to beat the Youngstown State baseball team 7-3 on Sunday afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium.

The Raiders scored six of their seven runs in the game with two outs, including their first three runs as they took a 3-0 lead after two innings.

Alex Larivee, who was one of two Penguins to finish with two hits, singled in Jake Ross with a two-out single in the third to make the score 3-1. Another two-out tally put Wright State up 4-1 in the fourth, and Matt Sullivan doubled in Phil Lipari in the sixth for one of his two hits that made the score 4-2.

Sean Murphy led off the bottom of the sixth with a home run to put the Raiders up 5-2, and the home squad added another run when Jeff Limbaugh's sacrifice fly brought in Jack Murphy. Wright State added another run in the seventh to take a five-run lead.

The Penguins' final run came in the ninth when Jason Shirley plated Lorenzo Arcuri on a sacrifice fly.

Youngstown State's final seven games of the regular season will be played at Eastwood Field. There will be no midweek games this week due to final exams, and YSU's next game will be Friday at 11 a.m. against UIC.
