Guins Earn Impressive Win at Cleveland State, 6-1

Westlake, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's tennis team won the doubles point and took five of six singles decisions in an impressive 6-1 win at Cleveland State on Saturday night at the Paramount Tennis Club.
The win improves the Penguins to 8-10 overall and 3-1 in the Horizon League while Cleveland State falls to 12-12 and 3-1.
YSU started the match strong winning two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
At No. 2 doubles, Dominika Lackova and Annina Brendel won an 8-5 decision over Alex Bush and Princess Gbadamosi. The Vikings won at No. 3 setting up the winner at No. 1 takes the point. YSU did as Margarita Sadavonikova and Marta Burak were victorious, 8-7, in a back-and-forth match over Alex Power and Ellen Folkers.
In singles, the Vikings won at No. 6, before the Guins closed things out with five strong singles victories.
At No. 1, Sadovnikova won 6-2, 6-4 over Lauren Golick, at No. 2, Burak beat Alex Bush, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3, Lackova defeated Kara Sherwood 6-3, 6-3, at No. 4, Brendel won 6-2, 6-3 over Mathilde Orange and at No. 5, Nehel Sahni defeated Gbadamosi, 6-4, 6-4.
Brendel's win sealed the victory for the Penguins.
YSU returns to action next Saturday when it takes on Milwaukee at the Boardman Tennis Center.
