Guins Post 6-1 Win In Horizon League Opener Against Wright State

Boardman - The Youngstown State women's tennis team opened Horizon League play with a 6-1 win over Wright State on Saturday night at the Boardman Tennis Center.
YSU (6-9 overall and 1-0 in HL play) won five of six singles matches and earned the doubles point from the Raiders (5-10 and 0-1).
At No. 1, Margarita Sadovnikova picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win over Linsey Verstrepen. At No. 2, Marta Burak earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Vanessa Madrigal. Playing at No. 3 for just the second time this year, Dominika Lackova cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win against Tori Turner.
Annina Brendel earned a 6-4, 6-0 win over Aby Madrigal at No. 4 while Nehel Sahni earned a 6-2, 4-6, 10- 7 win over WSU's Chelsea Girgash. At No. 6, Carolyn Jesko came up short falling 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 to Megan Brdicka.
In doubles play, Sadovnikova and Burak won 8-3 over Turner and Madrigal at No. 1 while Sahni and Lackova won 8-4 over Lauren Smith and Verstrepen.
The Penguins return to action next Saturday when they visit Oakland.
