Four Singles Wins Guide Penguins Past Oakland, 4-3

Rochester Hills, Mich. - The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up four singles wins to knock off Oakland on Saturday evening at the Bloomfield Tennis and Fitness Center.
The 4-3 win improves the Guins to 2-0 in the Horizon League and 7-9 overall. Oakland falls to 5-10 and 1-2.
The Penguins dropped two of three doubles matches and found themselves behind 1-0.
However, YSU won four matches in straight sets to win the match.
At No. 1, Margarita Sadovnikova picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory over OU's Cam Sabourin. At No. 2, Marta Burak defeated Karine Celis by a 6-1, 6-3 margin. At No. 3, Dominika Lackova cruised to an impressive 6-0, 6-0 victory over Maxime Colen and at No. 4, Annina Brendel earned a 6-4, 6-2 win against Tamara Blum.
At No. 5, Nehel Sahni jumped out to a 6-0 win in the first set over Elizabeth Guy before dropping a tough 7-6 (4) second set. In the tiebreaker, Sahni lost 10-7. At. No. 6, Carolyn Jesko lost a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 contest to Juliana Guevara.
In doubles action, Sadovnikova and Burak picked up an 8-4 win over Celis and Guevara for the Guins' lone win in the three matches.
YSU concludes its Michigan swing with a contest at Detroit on Sunday.
