- The sixth-seeded Youngstown State softball team takes on fifth-seeded Wright State in the winner's bracket final, Friday, May 9, at 3:30 p.m.
- The Penguins advanced after knocking off No. 2 Loyola, 2-0, on Thursday afternoon. Junior Casey Crozier fired a five-hit shutout with six strikeouts en route to her 15th victory of the season.
- Juniors Samantha Snodgrass and Courtney Ewing hit back-to-back doubles to take a 1-0 lead over the Ramblers in the top of the third inning. Kelly Stowe's RBI-ground out plated Miranda Castiglione with an insurance run in the top of the sixth.
- Wright State won the season series against the Penguins. Youngstown State defeated the Raiders, 7-2, in game one before the Raiders took games two and three, 3-0, and 4-3.
- Kelly Stowe batted .444 in the three games against the Raiders while Samantha Snodgrass batted .375.
- Casey Crozier picked up her 40th career victory against the Ramblers and moved into third place on the YSU all-time wins list.
- In the tournament, Crozier owns a 2-0 record with a 0.58 earned-run average. Crozier has struck out 15 batters in 12 innings pitched and has limited her opponents to a .205 batting average.
- Junior Courtney Ewing is batting .714 (5-for-7) during the tournament with a double and three RBIs. Over the last three games, Ewing is batting .667 (8-for-12) with three doubles and four runs batted in.
- This is the third time Youngstown State has won its first two games in the Horizon League Championship. The last time the Penguins won their first two tournament games was in 2006, the year they won the championship and earned the school's first NCAA Regional Tournament berth. The Penguins also won their first two games of the tournament back in 2003.
- This is the fourth time the Penguins and Raiders will face each other in the Horizon League Tournament. The Raiders own a 2-1 advantage, but the Penguins won the last meeting, 6-4, in 2006.
- Youngstown State owns a Horizon League Tournament record of 10-16 since joining the league in 2001-02. The Penguins won one game in 2002, two in 2003, four in 2006, one in 2012 and two in 2013.
