
Softball Preps For Busy Horizon League Slate This Week

The Youngstown State softball team is gearing up for a busy week with six Horizon League games on the slate. The Penguins host Detroit in a rescheduled three-game series, April 9-10, at McCune Park. First pitch on Tuesday is set for 3 p.m.
The Penguins also host Cleveland State, April 13-14, for a three-game series at McCune Park. First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m.
About Detroit
Detroit enters the series with an overall record of 3-26 and a 0-2 mark in the Horizon League. The Titans, who have lost their last 10 games, are led by Katelyn Steffel with a .333 batting average. Sarah Cupp leads the team with four home runs and boasts a .325 batting average.
About Cleveland State
The Cleveland State Vikings enter the week with a 10-13 overall record and a mark of 1-2 in the Horizon League. Dara Toman leads the Vikings with a .364 batting average. Susan Knight leads the Vikings' pitching staff with a 6-5 record while Alex Radjen owns an earned-run average of 2.10.
Crozier Notches 30th Victory
With a three-hit victory over Wright State on April 6, junior Casey Crozier picked up the 30th victory of her career. She now ranks tied for fifth all-time in career victories and needs seven more to move into fourth place.
Rumph Now Fourth on RBI Chart
With eight runs batted in last week, senior Vicky Rumph became the fifth player in school history to record 100 career RBIs and now ranks tied for fourth all-time with 103. Rumph is tied with Chris Notareschi (1995-98) and needs 11 more to move into third, 14 more for second and 17 more to break the career mark of 119.
Ewing Oil
With her four hits against Saint Francis (Pa.) on April 4, junior Courtney Ewing tied the school record for hits in a game. The last player to collect four hits in a game was Jordan Ingalls on April 18, 2012, against Detroit. Last week, Ewing batted .471 (8-for-17 with three doubles and three runs scored. On the year, Ewing is second on the team with a .333 batting average.
Stowe Streakin'
Freshman Kelly Stowe has been on fire at the plate over the last 10 games. Stowe has recorded a hit in the last 10 games and has a batting average of .412 (14-for-34) over that span. She also has five doubles, a home run, six runs scored and nine runs batted in during that time. On the year, Stowe has pushed her overall batting average to .300.
Snodgrass Still Slammin'
Junior Samantha Snodgrass has been the Penguins' toughest out to say the least. Snodgrass leads the team with a .375 batting average, which ranks fourth in the Horizon League. Last week, Snodgrass batted .429 (6-for-14) with a double and a home run.

The Penguins are slated to visit Eastern Michigan for a doubleheader, Tuesday, April 16, at 3 p.m.
More Rescheduling
Youngstown State has resceduled its Horizon League series against Loyola for April 18-19 at McCune Park. First pitch on both days is set for 3 p.m.
