
Softball Hosts Akron, Visits Saint Francis (Pa.), Wright State This Week

The Youngstown State softball team is slated to host Akron Tuesday, April 2, in a doubleheader at McCune Park in Canfield,Ohio. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. The Penguins also visit Saint Francis (Pa.), Wednesday, April 3, and open Horizon League play at Wright State, April 6-7.
The Penguins (3-11) have not played since March 14 due to inclement weather over the last two-and-a-half weeks.
Youngstown State and Akron have met 64 times and the Zips own a 44-19-1 advantage in the all-time series. Over the last 10 games against the Zips, the Penguins own a 5-4-1 mark. Last season, the Penguins defeated the Zips, 7-6, and tied, 5-5, due to darkness.
This will be the 30th and 31st meeting between Youngstown State and Saint Francis (Pa.). The Penguins lead the all-times series, 19-10. Last season, the Penguins swept the season series with 3-2 and 9-1 victories.
Youngstown State and Wright State have met 60 times previously and the Raiders own a slim 31-28-1 advantage in the all-time series. Last year, the Penguins won the season series with victories of 10-2 and 10-0 and lost to the Raiders, 8-0.
Crozier Climbin'
Junior pitcher Casey Crozier continues to climb the Youngstown State all-time strikeouts chart. Currently ranked fourth, Crozier has 259 career strikeouts, and needs 41 more to become just the fourth YSU pitcher to post 300 whiffs. She also needs 44 more to move into third place all-time.
Slammin' Sam
Junior third baseman Samantha Snodgrass is off to her career best season. The South Charleston, W.Va., native leads the team with a .357 batting average and a .500 slugging percentage. Of her 15 hits in 14 games, one-third have gone for extra bases. Snodgrass has four doubles and one home run.
Rumph Approach Top Five in Homers, RBIs
With one home run so far this season, senior Vicky Rumph now has 17 home runs in her career, which ranks tied for sixth all-time. Her next home run will push her into a tie for fourth place with 18. Rumph also has 95 runs batted in after driving in seven this season. She needs just five more RBIs to become the fifth player in school history to knock in at least 100 runs.

The Penguins are slated to visit Niagara in a doubleheader, Wednesday, April 10, at 3 p.m.
