Canfield, Ohio -- Junior Hana Somogyi allowed just four hits, struck out seven and did not allow an earned run in six solid innings to lead the Youngstown State softball team to a 4-1 win over Butler on Sunday afternoon at McCune Park.

Somogyi, who at one point retired 10 straight Butler hitters, picked up her fourth victory of the season while the Guins improve to 15-6 overall and 2-1 in the Horizon League.

The Bulldogs threaten in the top of the sixth and scored one unearned run, but Somogyi escaped a bases-loaded jam surrending just one run.

Senior Haley Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, tied the YSU career runs record of 126 held by Tiffany Patteson when she led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo blast to center field.

Junior Vicky Rumph also went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs with a two-run blast to center field in the bottom of the third inning.

After Thomas' home run off the scoreboard in the first, Caroline Krombach doubled to right-center field and eventually scored on Sarah Gabel's sacrifice fly to give the Guins a 2-0 lead after one.

Sophomore Casey Crozier picked up her second save of the year, pitching a perfect seventh inning to seal the victory.

The Guins take on Akron, Tuesday, March 27, in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. in Akron, Ohio.
