
YSU Concludes Fall Slate At Cleveland State Invitational

Cleveland, Ohio - The Youngstown State swimming and diving team competed against Cleveland State, Michigan State, Xavier (Ohio), Saint Francis (Pa.) and Duquesne from Nov. 16-18 at the First Annual Magnus Cup Invitational hosted at CSU's Busbey's Natatorium.
YSU scored 513.5 points in the event to place sixth. Michigan State had an impressive showing scoring 1,741.5 points to beat second-place Cleveland State, which scored 1,328 points.
Sophomore Ashley Dow tied for first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.88 with Michigan State's Nicole Huffman for first place.
Dow was second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.93 seconds behind Cleveland State's Alex Johannson who had a time of 55.67. She was third in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 27.07 seconds.
Senior Samantha Roberts was third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:24.33, sixth in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 31.67 seconds and seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.48.
Senior Casey Hill was second in the one-meter dive with a score of 244.95 in the finals behind Michigan State's Alison Menzies who had a score of 258.95. In the three-meter dive, Hill was second to Menzie as well. Hill posted a finals score of 258.30 while Menzies had a 271.30.
Laura Paz was eighth in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 26.85 seconds.
YSU returns to action in January, at CSU's Busbey Natatorium against Cleveland State and Wright State.
