
Penguins Open Season at Tom Stubbs Relays

Bowling Green, Ohio -- The Youngstown State swimmers opened the 2012-13 campaign with a series of relay events at the Tom Stubbs Relays held at the Cooper Pool. YSU, Bowling Green, Toledo and Akron all had swimmers compete.
The meet is designed to help the teams open the season on a solid note and swim a variety of relays, most of which are not part of a regular competition.
YSU posted three sixth-place finishes. The Guins took sixth in the 3x100 backstroke with a time of 3:04.66, was also sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay clocking a time of 8:07.38 and finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.12.
In the other competitions, YSU posted a time of 1:52.55 in the 200-yard medley relay, in the 3x100-yard butterfly the Guins finished with a time of 3:08.17, in the 3x500-yard freestyle relay the Penguins posted a time of 16:41.34, the best mark in the 4x-100 IM relay was 4:23.89, in the 400-yard free relay the Penguins clocked a time of 3:46.52, in the 400-yard medley relay YSU finished with a 4:04.66 and the Guins posted a time of 3:42.76 in the 3x100-yard breaststroke.
YSU returns to action on Friday, Oct. 19 when it visits Marshall.
