
Penguins Open Slate at Tom Stubbs Relays

Bowling Green, Ohio -- The Youngstown State swimming and diving program opened their 2011-12 season competing at the Tom Stubbs Relays hosted by Bowling Green at the Cooper Pool. Toledo, Bowling Green, Akron and YSU all participated in the 10-relay event.
Each of the four schools had two relay squads participate in all the events, while some had three in select relays.
The following is a list of YSU's top performance in each relay: in the 200-yard medley relay was a time of 1:52.50, 3:08.76 in the 300-yard butterfly relay, 3:06.96 in the 300-yard backstroke relay, 3:43.82 in the 300-yard breaststroke relay, 8:12.75 in the 800-yard freestyle relay, 4:09.79 in the 400-yard medley relay, 1:43.43 in the 200-yard freestyle relay, 16:26.05 in the 1,500-yard freestyle relay, 4:25.17 in the 400-yard medley relay and 3:45.85 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Penguins' best finishes were sixth in the 200-yard medley relay, 1,500-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay.
YSU returns to the pool on Friday, Oct. 21 when it faces Green Bay in the home opener. The event is set to begin at 5 p.m. at the Beeghly Natatorium. Admission is free.
