Penguins Open Dual Meet Slate Against Green Bay

The Youngstown State swimming and diving team will play host to Green Bay on Friday at the Beeghly Center Natatorium. Admission to the event is free and will be carried on the Horizon League Network. The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m.
Green Bay has been a Horizon League power winning seven consecutive conference championships. Last year the Phoenix finished 103.5 points ahead of the second-place finisher, Milwaukee. The Penguins placed sixth at the meet in February.
Green Bay is 2-0 in dual meets this season, earning nine first-place finishes in the 16 events against Wright State on Thursday night. This is YSU's first dual of the season.
The Penguins have four seniors on the roster in Nishani Cicilson, Audria Grubbs, Kirstin Walker and Katie Wolf. The meet will be the home debuts for freshmen Alexa Caster, Casey Cullen, Carly Dean, Ashley Dow and Courtney Hunter.
Some of the more intriguing events on tap for Friday are the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke.
In the 100-breaststroke, UWGB's Amy Burback and Lauren Caruso will be going against YSU's Samantha Roberts. Caruso and Roberts tied at the Horizon League Championships in February while Burback placed just ahead of both swimmers. Roberts was .07 behind Burback in the 200-yard breaststroke at the league meet.
On the diving side, junior Casey Hill leads the way for the Penguins. Hill won the 3-meter diving at the Horizon League Championship while placing sixth in the 1-meter event. It will be the season debuts for divers Breanne Horrigan, Tricia Vallinger and Jackie Smith.
YSU opened the 2011-12 season last Friday at the Tom Stubbs Relays.
