Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets to Eastern Michigan

Ypsilanti, Mich. -- Eastern Michigan hit .336 as a team and got 12 kills from sophomore outside hitter Rachel Iaquaniello in a three-set sweep of the Youngstown State volleyball team on Tuesday evening at the EMU Convocation Center.
YSU junior Tasha Reid had a team-best six kills, and Jenna Cavanaugh had five kills on a team-best .273 attack percentage. The Penguins hit -.046 as a team as EMU forced them into 21 attack errors. Kelsi Bitter and Haley Kapferer both had four block assists.
The Eagles won the opening set 25-14 behind converting on 14 out of 15 sideout opportunities and a .394 attack percentage. YSU trailed just 3-2 when Eastern Michigan went on a 14-5 run to take a 10-point edge.
The Penguins led 11-8 and forced EMU to call a timeout midway through the second set. The Eagles came out and scored 12 of the next 14 points to take a 20-13 lead.YSU climbed to within five before Iaquaniello's kill gave the Eagles a 25-19 set win.
EMU then hit .444 and converted 10 of 11 sideout opportunities in the third set to win 25-10.
The Eagles improved to 12-3 while the Penguins fell to 2-12.
YSU will play its first Horizon League home match Friday at 7 p.m. against Green Bay.
