
Cross Country Teams Compete at Meet of Champions

The YSU men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Iona Meet of Champions race at the Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, N.Y., Saturday morning. Sophomore runner Samantha Hamilton finished first for the Penguins for her third consecutive meet while the men's team continued its season-long trend of strong pack running.
Women's Recap
On the women's side, Hamilton finished in a tight pack with four other runners to complete the 6k in a time of 23:35.85, placing 48th out of 164 runners. Katherine Digby also ran in a tight pack with six other competitors, placing 77th with a time of 24:00.41. Anna Pompeo and Rachel Huddle finished together with times of 24:49.32 and 24:52.90, respectively, while Nelly Yegon rounded out the top five for the Guins with a time of 25:08.77.

Men's Recap
The men's squad once again ran well together, posting a close pack time. Senior Joe Copploe led the way for the Guins with a time of 26:57.75 for the 8k race. There was only a 55-second gap between the Penguins second and sixth runners to cross the finish line. Eric Rupe finished with a time of 27:23.90; he was followed by Jim Ramson at 27:37.66, Scott Denham at 27:57.44, Jake Lape at 28:12.81, and Jake Dialesandro at 28:17.92.
