Volleyball Can't Keep Up With Hot-Hitting Mountaineers

Morgantown, W.Va. -- West Virginia posted a .295 attack percentage and held the Youngstown State volleyball team to a .023 percentage in a three-set sweep of the Penguins on Sunday at the WVU Classic.
The Mountaineers will try and improve to 4-0 on the weekend when they take on Akron this evening at 7. The Penguins dropped to 0-3 on the season. WVU won today 25-15, 25-10, 25-18.
Tasha Reid led YSU in kills for the third time in three matches with six kills in 18 attempts. She had 23 kills to go along with a .227 attack percentage and nine block assists this weekend. Haley Kapferer added five kills in 16 attempts for YSU.
Serinna Russo and Lauren Evans had 10 kills apiece for West Virginia, which had seven blocks and seven aces as a team.
WVU scored six straight points early in the first set to go up 12-4, and it closed out the second set on a 13-2 run. A Reid kill made the score 17-14 in the third set, but West Virginia closed out strongly again with an 8-4 run.
The Penguins will play at Saint Francis (Pa.) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
