Raiders' Hurlers Stifle Softball's Bats to Earn Sweep

Canfield, Ohio -- Wright State pitchers Melanie Heyne and Allison Cox combined for a four-hit shutout to lead the Raiders past the Youngstown State softball team, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at McCune Park.
The Penguins fall to 12-25 overall and 5-7 in the Horizon League while the Raiders improve to 16-22-1 overall and 7-5 in the league.
Sophomore Haley Thomas went 2-for-4 on the day and finished the series against the Raider going 8-for-12. Sophomore Kristen Philen and senior Autumn Grove also collected singles against the Raiders.
Senior Cheryl Cale scattered seven hits and allowed just two earned runs but walked seven batters in the hard-luck loss.
The Penguins host Cleveland State in a three-game series, April 20-21, at McCune Park. First pitch for Tuesday's doubleheader is at 4 p.m.
