Charleston, S.C. -- Youngstown State recorded nine hits but left eight runners left on base in a 10-1 five-inning loss to Charleston Southern on Friday afternoon.
The Penguins fall to 0-2 while Charleston Southern improves to 4-2-1.
Junior Kim Klonowski went 3-for-3 and freshman Caroline Kromback tallied two singles.
The Penguins lone run came when junior Kristina Rendle doubled to lead off the fifth, advanced to third on Klonowski's infield single and scored on Vicky Rumph ground out.
The Penguins take on St. John's and No. 16 Louisville, Saturday, Feb. 20, at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
