Men's Basketball Falls to Green Bay, 74-59

Green Bay, Wis. -- Sophomore Damian Eargle led four Penguins scoring in double figures with 13 points and added four blocks, but the YSU men's basketball team fell to Green Bay, 74-59, on Saturday afternoon at the Resch Center.
Senior Vytas Sulskis scored 11 points and junior Devonte Maymon and freshman Kendrick Perry each added 10 for the Penguins.
Youngstown State falls to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the Horizon League while Green Bay improves to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.
After building an eight-point lead, 54-46, midway through the second half, the Penguins were outscored by the Phoenix, 28-5 to close out the game.
The Phoenix were able to capitalize on a couple Penguin turnovers and used a 10-1 run over a four-minute span to regain the lead, 56-55, and never trailed again.
The Penguins, who trailed by six points, 38-32, 18 seconds into the second half, were able to gain momentum and used a 22-8 run over the next 10 minutes of the stanza to build an eight-point lead, 54-46, with 10:10 left.
Two free throws by Maymon, a layup by junior Ashen Ward and an old-fashion three-point play by Sulskis at the 17:58 mark gave the Penguins their first lead of the game, 39-38.
After three more lead changes, a layup by Perry and a three-point play by Eargle gave the Penguins a four-point edge, 46-42, at the 14:23 mark. Another layup by Perry, two free throws and a layup by DuShawn Brooks extended the Guins advantage to eight, 52-44.
Bryquise Perine's layup cut the deficit to six, 52-46, but a layup by Tre Brewer gave the Penguins back their largest lead of eight.
In the first half, the Penguins never led and trailed by as many as eight points, 27-19, with 7:48 to go before halftime.
The Guins were able to whittle the Phoenix down to just a three-point advantage at the intermission.
The Penguins take a week break for finals and visit Robert Morris, Saturday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. in Moon Township.
