Sluggish Offense Dooms Penguins to Sweep at UIC

Chicago -- A .117 attack
percentage and seven receiving errors doomed the Youngstown State
volleyball team to a 3-0 defeat at UIC on Saturday afternoon.
Kaitlin O'Hara had a team-high eight
kills while Ruth Boscaljon had seven. Haley Kapferer had three
kills in six chances and posted five blocks.
Casie Sullivan had a match-high 12 kills
for the Flames while Epiphany Davis had 10 finishes on a .643
percentage.
YSU hit -0.097 in the first set en route
to a 25-16 setback, and it fell 25-18 in the second set.
YSU led by three four times early in the
second set and had the score tied at 12 before UIC went on two big
runs. After a Boscaljon kill made the score 12-12, UIC went on a
7-1 run to take a 19-13 lead. The Penguins pulled within three at
21-18, but the Flames scored the set's final four points for the
final tally.
The Penguins also led early in the final
set at 6-4, but UIC scored six straight to go up four and never led
by less than three the rest of the way.
