YSU Rolls Past Indiana State, 42-7

The seventh-ranked Youngstown State football team rolled to season highs in total yardage and points in a 42-7 victory over Indiana State in front of 20,813 at Stambaugh Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Penguins (7-1 overall and 4-1 in the Gateway Conference) finished the game with a season-high 511 yards. YSU quarterbacks Jeff Ryan and Colby Street completed all 13 of their passing attempts for 234 yards and Josiah Doby rushed for a career-best 110 yards on just 10 carries as YSU finished with 294 yards on the ground. With the loss, Indiana State drops to 0-9 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
YSU took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter on touchdowns by P.J. Mays (two-yard run) and a 30-yard pass from Ryan to Sean Guerriero. In the second quarter, Brandon Pedraza caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Jeff Ryan and Mays scored his second touchdown of the game on a fourth and goal with 1:04 left in the half as the Penguins led 28-0.
In the third, Doby scored on a nine-yard run to give YSU a 35-0 lead. Jared Sessum had the Sycamores' lone score, a one-yard touchdown on a fourth and goal with 11:08 left. Street scored the Penguins final touchdown of the game with 7:51 left on a one-yard sneak.
The Penguins return to action on Saturday, Nov. 4 at noon against Hofstra at Stambaugh Stadium.
