Reggie Kemp, who ranks as the YSU men's basketball programs seventh all time leading scorer, holds two records that may never be broken.

In his career, he scored 1,821 points ranking him seventh all time in school history. He scored in double figures an amazing 86 times and had at least 20 on 43 occasions. He also finished with 20 double- doubles. From the field, he converted 695 of 1,450 attempts (47.9 percent). From the free thrown line, where he set records for makes and attempts, he shot 67 percent.

Kemp played in 98 games at YSU, including a total of 3,116 minutes. His minutes played are the third most in school history.

Twice he scored more than 40 points in a game and is one of only seven players in YSU history to reach that plateau.

As a senior in 1992-93, Kemp played in 24 games making 20 starts. He scored a team high 413 points, averaging 17.2 per contest. He also grabbed 151 rebounds, averaging in 1991-92.

He had one of the best scoring nights in school history when he scored 46 points on Feb. 6, 1993, against Wright State at the Beeghly Center – ranking as the fifth best in school history.

He scored in double figures 22 times, had more than 20 points on seven occasions and finished with four double-doubles.

In 1991-92, his junior year, he played in all 28 contests starting 26. He scored 589 points, averaging 21.1 per contest—ranking him in the top 30 in the country. He pulled down 163 rebound averaging 5.8 per game. During the year, he scored in double figures 26 times, had 18 games where he scored more than 20 points and recorded three double doubles. For his efforts, he was a second team All Independent selection.

In 1989-90, he played in all 28 games making 24 starts. He scored 564 points, averaging 20.1 per contest and grabbed 228 rebounds, for an 8.1 per game average.

He had 24 double figure scoring games, 15 of which he had more than 20 points. His best outing came when he scored 42 points at St. Francis (Pa.) on Jan. 2, 1990. He had nine double doubles, again being a second team All Independent selection.

As a freshman, Kemp started all 28 games. He finished with 254 points, averaging 9.1 per contest. He grabbed 139 rebounds for an average of 4.9 a game. He scored in double figures 14 times and recorded three double doubles.

Before coming to Youngstown, Kemp had a standout high school career at East Shaw in Cleveland. As a senior, he averaged 21.9 points and 12.2 rebounds per game.

Kempt earned a degree in social work from Youngstown State. He is currently a teaching assistant at Hope Academy Cathedral in Cleveland. He had also worked as a supervisor for Applewood Centers Independent Living Program in Cuyahoga County.

Kemp resides in his hometown of East Cleveland, OH. He has two daughters, Shanderia (11) and Aysia (6).
